Your privacy matters. Here's exactly how Tend handles your data.
Tend stores everything locally on your iPhone. Your data never leaves your device. We don't collect, transmit, or sell any personal information. There are no analytics, no tracking, no ads, and no accounts.
Tend requests permission to access your iPhone's Contacts. This is required for the app to work — it's how Tend displays the names and photos of people in your garden. Tend reads your contacts in a read-only manner and never modifies, deletes, or adds to your contact list.
Tend also uses your device's notification system to send you daily reminders. These are local notifications scheduled entirely on your device — no server is involved.
If you enable Face ID or Touch ID within Tend, the biometric authentication is handled entirely by Apple's iOS security framework. Tend never sees, stores, or processes your biometric data.
Tend stores the following information locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework:
— The names and priority levels (Roots, Branches, Leaves) you assign to your contacts
— Your outreach history (dates you marked reminders as done, snoozed, or deprioritized someone)
— Your app settings (notification preferences, reminder frequency, number of people per day)
All of this data is stored exclusively on your device. If you delete the app, this data is permanently removed.
None. Tend does not collect any data. Tend does not transmit any data off your device. Tend does not communicate with any server, API, or cloud service. There is no backend, no database, and no network calls of any kind.
Tend does not integrate with any third-party services. There are no analytics tools (such as Google Analytics or Firebase), no advertising networks, no crash reporting services, and no social media SDKs. The app is entirely self-contained.
Tend does not share your data with anyone. Since no data ever leaves your device, there is nothing to share.
Tend does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13. The app does not collect information from any user of any age.
All data is stored on your device for as long as you have the app installed. You can delete all data at any time using the "Reset All Data" option in the app's Settings. Uninstalling the app permanently removes all stored data.
You can revoke Tend's access to your Contacts at any time by going to your iPhone's Settings → Tend → Contacts and toggling it off. The app will continue to function with the contacts you've already added, but will not be able to import new contacts or display updated contact photos.
You can disable notifications at any time through the app's Settings screen or through your iPhone's system Settings.
If we ever update this privacy policy, the revised version will be posted at this URL. Since Tend does not collect any contact information from its users, we are unable to notify you directly of changes. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
